On July 21, 2011, Rev. Dr. Mark Randolph Thompson, Senior Pastor of Community Covenant Church in Calumet City, Illinois passed away. Rev. Dr. Thompson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas; a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago; a Master of Theological Studies degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, Illinois; and a Doctor Of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary at the University of Chicago. On July 4th, Dave Eckerty from Evangelical Covenant Church in Paxton, IL suffered a serious head injury late afternoon. He was riding his bike with his grandson Gavin, 2 year-old when a female driver crashed into him. (more…)

Covenant Children’s Ministries was established in 1921 as Covenant Children’s Home by the Central Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Its mission was to provide a caring home for children who lost a parent or whose families were unable to care for them. As many as 85 children at one time called Covenant Children’s Home their home. Covenant Children’s Home & Family Services is announcing a new name, a refined mission of helping children in need, and an expanded vision for the future of the ministry. The Board of Covenant Children’s Home, together with Central Conference Superintendent Jerome Nelson, Covenant Ministries of Benevolence President David Dwight, and CMB Executive Vice President Harold Spooner, have been working together diligently this past year on a long-range strategic plan for this important ministry to children in need. The 26 mile walk fund raiser was a huge success! Many families came out to walk. Some walked 5 miles, some 15 miles and one 80 year old man walked the who 26 miles around beautiful Lake Geneva at Covenant Harbor Bible Camp in Lake Geneva, WI. Sponsored by Women Ministries of the Central Conference, this walk was intended to raise our consciousness about human trafficking, as well as bring in some necessary support monies for New Day for Children, a home for rescue and healing of girls freed from sexual slavery.
