August 14, 2008 - Pastoral Health: A Matter of Life and Death - Ministery Mentors presents their third annual seminar for pastors on the topic of pastoral health on September 24, 2008. Dr. Timothy Johnson, ABC News Senior Medical Advisor, Medical Editor of ABC's Good Morning, America and author of Finding God in the Questions: A Personal Journey, and an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Covenant Church, will be the guest speaker. The event will be held from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM at Monastero's Restaurant in Chicago. Additional details and a registration form can be found on Ministry Mentors' website.

July 28, 2008 - Surgery Successful for Superintendent Jerome Nelson - Central Conference Superintendent Jerome Nelson has been diagnosed with colon cancer and had very successful surgery on Monday, July 28. Nelson’s physicians anticipate a full recovery. He is at home, with a four-week recovery time planned.

The Nelsons thank you for your prayers during this difficult time, and ask that you continue to pray for a smooth, speedy, and complete recovery. Superintendent Nelson's wife Joanne expressed gratitude for the support the family has received. “The effectual fervent prayers of the saints avail much with the Lord,” Joanne said. “Thank you for all the prayers - we feel the love.”

July 3, 2008 - Oakdale Covenant Mission Team Working in South Africa... A 27-member delegation from Oakdale Covenant Church in Chicago is working with a YMCA camping program near Cape Town - part of a mission trip designed to respond to a need for specialized services among not only camp participants, but township residents as well.
